The debut of Reem Acra’s Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection lived up to the internationally-known designer’s reputation for elegance and glamour.  Makeup Artist Maxine Leonard led the Temptu Pro Team in creating a natural look to offset the collection’s extravagance of bright colors and heavily adorned jewelry.   The team used Temptu S/B Airbrush Foundation to achieve a clean, natural look on the skin with Temptu S/B Airbrush Makeup in Blush and Champagne ShimmerHighlighter to create a youthful flush and drama.

PRESS: Maxine gives quick makeup tips to Marie Claire magazine.

Sheer Genius
The bare necessities for this “no makeup” look? Rosy-pink blush and lip balm. For a dewy glow, makeup artist Maxine Leonard dabbed Jo Malone Vitamin E lip balm on cheekbones, inner eye corners—and lips, of course. Then she carefully filled out the brows and brushed them up. “With a fresh, natural look, it’s important to have groomed brows. They frame the face and add definition,” she says.

Violet Femme
To warm up the purple eyeshadow, Leonard blended peach blush with a hint of shimmer high on the cheekbone and up to the lids. “Too much powder can look dated. A touch of iridescence gives skin a youthful luminosity,” she says. Salmon lips have more attitude than nude but still look soft.

Gray’s Anatomy
Black cat-eye liner can look like Amy Winehouse on a bad day, so Leonard prefers more wearable gray hues instead. With surgical precision, she filled in the upper lashes with gray pencil and dragged out the line at the outer corners of the eye to create a slightly winged shape. Then she smudged a bit of gray shadow along the lower lashline “to make it a little sexier. You don’t even need mascara.” Call it smoky lite.

About:

Makeup artist Maxine Leonard launched her career by training in Japan with makeup guru, Shu Uemura. Under his direct tutelage, Maxine fine tuned her cosmetic precision and her unique perspective on color, and was soon teaching seminars in Japan under the Shu Uemura brand. She returned to the UK where she continued to head up seminars for the brand, and simultaneously began exploring the world of editorial beauty, assisting makeup artists such as Dick Paige and Lisa Butler.

With many years under her belt, Maxine’s style is a recognizable one. Featured recently in the London Sunday Times as ‘the new faces of makeup’, Maxine has garnered much attention for her innovative beauty looks in magazines like Wonderland – where she serves as beauty editor – as well as British, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Chinese and German Vogue, Pop, i-D, and Dazed and Confused.

Maxine has worked with seasoned, as well as up and coming photographers, including Alex Cayley, Alexi Lubomirski, Patrick Demarchelier, Ben Hassett, Greg Kadel, Karen Collins, KT Auleta and Mariano Vivanco. She has also styled the runway shows for Just Cavalli, Karen Walker, Levis, Hugo Boss, Missoni, Ralph Lauren and Jil Sander, to name a few.
